I am not sure what made me google the best design movies, but I was surprised with movies that are dated with the year they were rated “the best”.
In 2022, Squaring the Circle is about Storm Thorgerson and Aubrey “Po” Powell, who created some of the most recognizable album covers of all time, including Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon. This is a documentary on Netflix. I will have to watch this one.
Objectified is an in-depth look at how industrial manufacturing ,art, and design impact our lives this is a documentary from 2009 also named the best in this year.
Helvetica from 2007 is a documentary about filmmaker Gary Hustwit, exploring the history and proliferation of the typeface and interviewing leading graphic and type designers.
